MIKE'S OUTFITTING
2000 MULE DEER RIFLE HUNT REPORT

We had another fantastic season for big mule deer in spite of once again unseasonably warm weather. We shot 4 really good deer with 2 of them being our best ever typical and non-typical. Overall we shot 7 bucks for IO hunters giving a 70% success rate. This is mainly due to our trophy hunting return clients passing up many bucks looking for the big guy, which is fine with us.

The 2 biggest bucks killed were a 191 typical and a 210 non-typical. Jim Sanderson from California made a 150 yard shot on the big typical after a long hike with Blaine Walburger guiding and me, Mike, being the pickup truck man. Blaine tried to convince Jim not to shot the buck because he wanted to see him get a big 200 inch non-typical he had seen several times before. Thankfully Jim couldn't resist and downed the beast. A fired up Chris Perkes from Arizona killed the huge, heavy, incredible 210 non-typical. It has 13 total points, 39 inches in circumferences, a 186 typical frame and 24 inches of nontypical points. It is only 19 inches wide inside, 27 outside. Blair Stuber was his guide and me, Mike, was once again the good luck pickup man. Pelayo Mazzora from Florida looked over dozens of different bucks with guide Jim Schnell and finally shot a great looking 180 inch typical. Greg May from Michigan took an old, heavy 13 point muley with one 70 yard shot. The buck has lots of character and scores 177. The husband and wife team of Blaine and Susan Walburger ended up with Susan killing a fantastic 194 inch buck. The first 2 circumference measurements were over 6 inches and the g-2's were 19 inches long. The bucks shot by the other hunters were all nice deer that they can be proud of. Quite a few good mule deer were seen after the season so next year should be just as good.

Thanks to everybody who came mule deer rifle hunting with us and made it an enjoyable and successful season. It especially would not be so successful without great guides like Blaine Walburger, Jim Schnell, Blair Stuber, Dennis Reese and the Klaudt brothers. They really know the areas and work hard to get everybody good deer.

The year 2001 season is almost full and bookings are coming in for 2002 so call right away if you are interested. I hope to see you up here soon.

Yours truly,
Mike Ukrainetz
