Mike's Outfitting Ltd is owned and operated by Mike Ukrainetz
and his wife Jen. Mike has been an avid hunter all his life
and has guided rifle and bowhunts for several outfitters in
Alberta and the Northwest Territories since 1986. He has been
outfitting since 1992 first as Ukrainetz Guided Hunts with his
brother and father and now as Mike's Outfitting Ltd. with Jen.
Jen grew up in Oregon and she has also been a hunter all of
her life. She assists Mike in all areas of the business, from
the bookkeeping right through to the cooking and guiding.
Mike's college education is
in Biology/Environmental Technology and Mike chose big game
outfitting as his career. Bowhunting is his passion and he
has taken well over a dozen Pope and Young class animals including
whitetail deer, mule deer, bighorn sheep, dall sheep, black
bear, cougar and elk. He is an avid outdoorsmen spending several
weeks each year shed antler hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking
and going on extensive summer scouting/photography trips.
This keeps him up to date about his guiding areas and in great
shape for the hunting season where he personally guides many
of the hunts. He is a full time outfitter and a part time
wildlife artist. He is also the former director for the prairies
for the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society and works
on several of their committees.
Every year Mike continues to
refine his hunting operation, hosting a small number of hunters
and taking care of every detail. He knows his business thrives
on repeat customers and their friends. He welcomes criticism
and never takes his success for granted. Consistency in how
the hunts are run and striving to improve is what makes his
hunts a complete success. Mike also only hires the most enthusiastic,
knowledgeable and hard hunting guides he can find. Most of
them have worked for him for several years. Many clients also
return year after year. Mike hopes you will do the same and
