Alberta Whitetail Deer Hunting
Alberta, Canada is well known for its huge whitetails and the
Peace River country is one of the best areas. Our zones have
a perfect edge whitetail deer habitat where there are large
sections of woods that back right up to the farm fields. The
giant Canadian whitetails can get good feed, hide out and grow
to maturity. You will be hunting out of deer stands set on the
edges of the fields where the does congregate or back in the
thick woods on open cut lines not far from the fields. All these
locations will have been well scouted and thoughtfully chosen
before your arrival.
The best way to consistently
kill big whitetails in Peace River, Alberta, Canada is to
spend time in a stand. Resident hunters mainly road hunt and
the competition for that style of hunting can get stiff. To
have a much better chance for a good deer our hunters spend
at least 6 hours a day and preferably all day in their stands.
We hunt deer mainly using elevated
tripod stands that have a large base, a swivel seat and a
skirt to block the wind. We also use ground blinds on crop
field edges. We can heat the stands if it gets really cold.
The tripod hunting allows you to see and hear everything around
you and not miss that possible one opportunity for a giant
whitetail. The feed sources can change every year, even within
the season and the portable tripods allow us to move stands.
The weather in Peace River, Alberta on the November hunts
can range from mild, highs of 50 F down to cold and snowy.
Proper clothing, which we can advise you on, will allow you
to handle it, enjoy the hunt and have a great chance to kill
a big Canadian deer.
