"A Big Game Hunter's Paradise"

Despite some tough conditions, we had another fantastic bowhunting season, Aug 25th to Sept 14th! Once again this was due to our incredible guide crew, Kyle, Josh, Gerard and Cody and a bunch of great hunters!! We hosted 14 hunters who fired off a couple dozen arrows and ended up killing 11 animals. We had good hunting weather on the first week of the season and then on September 1st it turned cold with endless rain making the hunting very tough but we persevered.
In the first 2 weeks of the season we took 8 mule deer bowhunters and 2 early season moose hunters. The 8 mule deer guys killed 6 bucks, flesh wounded a couple others, and the 2 moose guys killed 2 bulls. The first kill of the year was done by repeat hunter Aaron Austin with a 60 yard shot on a big 182 score buck. Then Aaron's buddy Randy Ginest, also a multiple repeat hunter from Kansas, was passing up bucks in search of another 180 class deer. Towards the end of the hunt he decided to kill a buck that looked "good enough". It went 183, these big bodied 300+ lb deer can fool you! Jason and Greg Myers came on another Mike's Outfitting hunt for mule deer this time and Dad, Greg connected on a nice 155 inch first time muley. Jason wasn't so lucky but he rebooked another couple hunts with us anyway. Luke Anderson was one pumped up moose hunter and he killed his first bull moose out of a tree stand at 15 yds! He also did a nice write up on the hunt at www.bowsite.com. Clayton VanVolkinberg also took a tree stand moose on the 2nd week early season hunt with a 30 yd shot. The mule deer hunts continued through the 2nd rainy week with 70 yr old Harry Kirk killing a solid 150 class deer and John Hubbard taking a massive antlered, 168 inch buck. Both guys were repeat hunters from Texas and they too booked in again for 2020. Charly Peterson and Dan Edmonds from PA were new hunters for us and they had several opportunities with Dan connecting on the biggest Mike's Outfitting bow killed muley of the year at a wide racked 185 gross score! They are coming back too.
Then the rain really came down for the elk and moose combo bowhunts, Sept 7-14. I've never seen it rain every day for 7 days straight! The woods in our area are a Vietnam style jungle so even if it quits raining you are still getting soaked pushing through the thick vegetation and tripping on all the deadfall. But it's also what allows our plentiful elk population to survive a 2 1/2 month OTC rifle season. We killed 1 elk and 2 moose for the 4 bowhunters and flesh wounded another 3 elk along with several missed shots on both species. The one elk was killed by Lucas White along with a bull moose. This was Lucas's 2nd time he has doubled up an elk and a moose. His Dad, Troy White on his 5th hunt with us was the other hunter who killed the moose. Troy has rebooked for 2019 and 2020, he must like the hard work of this hunt and the long drive from Ontario! George Thwaites and Cary Shoutz also busted their butts on the combo bowhunt but were unsuccessful.
On a personal note after 13 years of ownership I got to finally make a trip into our Northern BC guide territory for a rut moose bowhunt and I killed a slammer bull, an old heavy, awesome 54 inch, 192 score Canada Moose! We called him in the wide open from 100 yards right to 24 yds!! Double lung shot, all on video, you can see it on our Mike's Outfitting Instagram account, (get your 10 yr old grandson to show you it, haha) Unfortunately we've now sold the area.
All of our bowhunts are full 2019 and even getting full for 2020. Contact us right away if you are interested in a great bowhunt with avid bowhunting guides who know how to get you shots at Mule Deer, Elk and Moose! We do live in a Big Game Bowhunters Paradise!!
